MINMI is a Japanese singer-songwriter and producer known for her genre-crossing sound and electrifying live performances around the world. Since debuting in 2002 with the hit single “The Perfect Vision,” which sold over 500,000 copies, MINMI has built a career that blends Pop, Reggae, Hip-Hop, and Caribbean influences into a distinctive style often described as Neo-Rasta music. Her debut album “MIRACLE” followed the next year and went on to sell over 600,000 copies, staying in the Top 10 of Japan’s charts for two consecutive months and establishing her as one of Japan’s most unique voices in contemporary music.
Known for her charismatic stage presence, MINMI has performed everywhere from major international festivals such as Summer Sonic to intimate club stages, consistently captivating audiences with high-energy performances. Her music has also reached global audiences through anime culture—most notably with “Shiki no Uta,” produced by Nujabes, which served as the ending theme for the acclaimed anime Samurai Champloo and remains beloved by fans worldwide.
Beyond her work as a recording artist, MINMI is also a successful producer and cultural organizer. In 2008 she launched FREEDOM, a genre-less music festival centered on themes of nature, community, and music. What began at Zepp Tokyo has grown into a major annual event that has drawn more than 400,000 attendees in total. Her influence as a producer extends to chart-topping songs in Japan, including the hit “Suirenka.”
MINMI’s global reach has continued to expand through performances across the United States, including major anime conventions and festivals that attract tens of thousands of attendees—many of whom are longtime supporters of her music. She also made history at SOCA MONARCH INTERNATIONAL, becoming the first Japanese artist ever to advance to the finals of the prestigious Caribbean music competition.
Currently based in the United States, MINMI continues to pursue her mission of bringing Japanese music to the world. She recently expanded her FREEDOM festival concept internationally with Freedom LA, held in Orange County, California, further connecting audiences across cultures through music. With a career spanning decades, millions of listeners,
